Why I’m Still Obsessed With Flodesk (Even After Their Pricing Update)

Before we dive in, I am a Flodesk Partner which means I do get a small commission if you sign up. To be super transparent, I’ve these links are marked with an asterisk*. I only ever recommend things I 100% believe in and use myself.

If you’ve worked with me or followed me for any length of time, you probably already know this: I love Flodesk*. Like… love-love.

It’s intuitive
It’s beautiful
It’s easy to use,
and it just feels good.

I’ve said it before and I’ll say it again: for a brand-new business owner dipping their toes into email marketing, Flodesk is hands-down my favourite recommendation. Check out this blog post to learn more about why I love Flodesk.

Recently, Flodesk* made a big shift: they moved away from their “unlimited everything” model to a tiered pricing structure.

And listen… I felt the same little stomach drop you probably felt when you first heard. Pricing changes can feel icky, especially when you’re a small business owner being mindful of every dollar.

After digging into the why behind the change (spoiler: NEW FEATURES 👀) and actually seeing the updated plans for myself, I ended up being… surprisingly happy about it. Like, genuinely relieved.

Before I dig into what this change means, new features, and what the plans look like, I have a fun story to share :

A Behind-the-Scenes Story
(aka: The Moment I Fell Even More in Love With Flodesk)

As a Flodesk Partner, I learnt early on about the upcoming change to the pricing structure and had a chance to share feedback directly with the team. I took this opportunity to heart and made sure to participate. My biggest concern? Entry-level accessibility. Ever since I started with Flodesk, I’ve found the $38 USD/month starting point can be hard to swallow for a brand-new business owner, especially when you’re trying to keep expenses in check.

Giving feedback in a community (especially when the CEOs are present) can feel really challenging. So when I saw a reply notification pop up from Martha, one of the co-founders, I instantly felt my stomach tighten with the nervous butterflies.

Thankfully, that nervousness was short-lived. Martha didn’t brush me off or give a generic “thanks for your feedback.” She wrote back thoughtfully, clearly, and with so much kindness. She explained the reasoning behind the changes, acknowledged the challenges, and genuinely thanked me for sharing my perspective. She then also private messaged me to acknowledge and thank me a second time for the feedback (isn’t that so awesome!).

She didn’t have to do that. And yet there she was, a CEO running a rapidly scaling tech company, taking time to respond thoroughly, openly, and generously.

I was honestly shocked… in the best way possible.

This experience reinforced something I already felt but hadn’t fully articulated: I don’t just love Flodesk for the product. I love it for the people behind the product. The care, the openness, the willingness to listen… it’s rare. And it’s one of the biggest reasons I continue to recommend Flodesk to my clients (and why I think you’ll love it too).

(Screens blurred for privacy, but I wanted to share this moment because it meant a lot)

The Real Reason Behind the Pricing Change: NEW FEATURES

Okay, let’s talk about the elephant in the room. Why change the pricing structure at all?

Because Flodesk has been rolling out (and is continuing to roll out) some wicked awesome new features. Features that make the platform more powerful and more integrated which in turn, makes doing your job easier (wins across the board in my books).

In order to sustainably build and maintain those features, they needed a pricing model that reflects actual resource usage. Unlimited everything at a static price just wasn’t feasible long-term.

Think about it : if someone has 100K subscribers, they’re using way more resources than someone who has 500 subscribers on their list. I feel like it came down to the decision that new features (which are for everyone) outweighed unlimited list sizes (which really only supports those with big lists). I personally think this is totally a-okay since this means fun new updates to the platform here we come!

With that in mind, here’s a peek at some of what Flodesk has dropped just in the last year:

Integrations (No more Zaps! 🎉)

  • Automatic subscriber syncing + purchase workflows for Squarespace and Wix

  • Syncing + segmentation for ManyChat

  • Automatic followups, segmentation, and abandoned cart workflows for ThriveCart

  • Canva integration — create in Canva → insert directly into Flodesk emails, forms, and checkout

Commerce & Checkout Upgrades

  • Recurring payments (hello memberships!)

  • Buy Now, Pay Later options via Klarna, Afterpay & Affirm

  • Abandoned cart workflows to recover missed revenue

Team & Collaboration

  • Team seats, this ones super cool - it’s so you can bring on your VA, designer, or business partner without sharing your login!

What’s Coming Next?

Flodesk is incredibly transparent about what they’re working on. Their public roadmap is one of my favourite things to scroll when I’m feeling curious about what kind of exciting newness is up next. You can peek at it (and even vote on new features!) right here:

From what I’ve gathered, it sounds like this pricing shift is one big step towards more ongoing newness. Now that their structure is more sustainable, they’ll have more resources to roll things out faster.

I’m genuinely so excited to see what’s next! ✨

So…Let’s Talk About the New Pricing Structure

Okay (deep breathe…😉) let’s get into it.

Any time a company announces a pricing change, I instantly brace myself. Maybe that’s the entrepreneur in me. Maybe it’s the trauma of platforms that suddenly double their costs overnight. Either way, I had my “sweaty palms moment.”

But when the new Flodesk plans were finally revealed? I exhaled big time. Because the changes actually make it more accessible for newer business owners.

The biggest win?

There’s now a $19 USD/month entry plan.

For so many of my clients (especially those just starting their list) this is a total game changer!

And yes, you can still apply my LDOTDESIGNS code to get 25% off your first year*, making it even more affordable to get started 🎉🎉🎉

Here’s what I recommend based on where you’re at:

If you’re main focus is email marketing : Start with Pro. The value is incredible, especially in year one with the discount. You can always downgrade later.

If you want to sell without relying on your website (or you don’t have one yet) : Choose Everything.

If you’re on a tight budget but want to get started : Go with Lite. (Though for the extra $6/month, Pro is absolutely worth it)

Whichever plan you decide to go with, I’m sure you’ll be happy. Flodesk is a joy to use and absolutely worth a try.

So yes, change is hard but as you can see, Flodesk continues to grow, evolve, and innovate while staying true to its mission of supporting small business owners. They’re led by genuinely kind, humans (+female founders) who listen and care.
