Email marketing doesn't have to mean staring at a blank screen. In this hands-on review, I'm taking Flodesk Studio for a spin and sharing how it helped me create a beautifully designed email campaign plus my favourite features, a step-by-step tutorial, and whether I think it's worth trying.
Recently, Flodesk made a big shift: they moved away from their “unlimited everything” model to a tiered pricing structure. After digging into the why behind the change and actually seeing the updated plans for myself, I ended up being… surprisingly happy about it.
Although we’re saying goodbye to one way of using Flodesk, it means we get to say hello to newness like fresh features, platform growth, accessible pricing and more. Keep reading to get all the details 👀
Switching to Flodesk for email marketing changed the game for me. This beautiful, crisp, easy-to-use platform took me from getting the dread whenever tackling anything email marketing related to feeling confident, creative & in control. Sound like a dream? Keep reading to find out why I think Flodesk is a fantastic and think you’ll love it too.
Shopify website design and brand tweak completed for this fun, positive Red Deer Alberta based business (May 2020)
What a fun project this was! The lovely Paula came to me as a referral through Penny of Rootology Wellness Therapy. Not only was Paula relaxed and sweet as pie, but a genuine pleasure to work with.
Penny didn't want anything resembling a stereotypical "tree" logo. Considering her business's name + her love for nature, I decided to play with various types of foliage instead. This created the feeling of growth and renewal while keeping her logo unique + one of a kind.
One thing that makes my life SO much easier in my business is my project process.
It’s honestly a game changer and allows me to breathe when it comes to taking on new clients. Additionally, it makes me look more professional, keeps my clients in the know without a bazillion emails and helps me to make sure I have all my bases covered (no more waking up in the middle of the night wondering if I missed anything).
If you’re just getting started or need a little more organization in your business, I highly recommend nailing down your project process. Believe me, you won’t regret it.
I want to leave you with one last piece of advice:
START NOW
JUST DO IT.
LAUNCH.
DONE IS BETTER THAN PERFECT.
I wish you the best of luck on your website creation journey.
Let me tell you, designing for print and designing for digital use are COMPLETELY different ball games. As I am sure you could expect, there were a TON of learnings (aka mistakes) along the way. This is a story of how this book turned into my most challenging project yet and some of the biggest mistakes I made along the way.
I was hard core stuck in my comfort zone and knew the only way I could move forward with life was to (finally) move on from slinging those stretchy pants.
But how could I afford to move on? I NEEDED lululemon to sustain my life while I tried to build my business on the side.
That was the lie I was telling myself. Well, maybe not a lie. I truly believed it. But I had never crunched the numbers.
I made a choice.
A really really big choice.
After almost 10 years with lululemon, I left my safe, comfy, full-time job in pursuit of turning my goals into reality.
This project was one of the most important projects I’ve had so far.
It was about sharing knowledge.
It was about giving back.
It was about Legacy.
Squarespace may not be as customizable in some ways as Wordpress and of course has its downfalls but overall it's an excellent platform. If an aesthetically pleasing + easy to use platform is what you’re looking for, than Squarespace is for you. Give it a shot, you won’t be disappointed.
It’s easy to get excited about eating yourself into a food coma. That’s what Thanksgiving is all about isn’t it?
Well, this year I challenge you (and me) to make Thanksgiving about MORE than just yummy niblets. I challenge us to take a look at what we’re most grateful for this thanksgiving weekend.
Because you know what they say: “It’s not happy people who are grateful but grateful people who are happy.”
In this blog post, I’m going to share with you my personal favourite method for writing my vision as well as how to use it to create actionable steps towards your #dreamlife aka goals.
When building HaleyRae’s website, my main focus was organizing her content so it was easy to navigate. This gal has SO MUCH GOING ON. From acting to hosting to performing as a Disney princess and more, saying HaleyRae is “busy” is an understatement. Figuring out a way to showcase all of these talents was tricky but I was up for the challenge. Take a look below for a peaky at how it turned out.
Nick was an excellent client. He really put his brand in my hands and gave me full control. This of course had it's challenges but overall it was a designers dream to do whatever I wanted.
Even though Heelerz has a close personal connection, I am still ridiculously proud of this project.
Thank you Heelerz for the opportunity to play such a large role in your business. It's been wondering watching how your business has grown and changed over the years.
If you haven't guessed it yet, This project changed my life. It taught me that I am capable of SO much. It reminded me that I am a researcher, a learner, insatiably curious. It inspired me to make a career out of web design and branding.
As creatives, we all have those projects that stand out to us. The milestones. The game changers.
This project was one of those.
When Angie of Equine Enrichment entrusted me with her business she became my first paid project. What do you get from firsts? Lots of learns, lots of excitement and lots of growth.
Enjoy our final results and be sure to check them out for yourself at equineenrichment.com.
In honour of International Women’s Day I’m going to do just that. Today I’m going to share thirteen #BossBabes who I know in real life and are up to cool bossbabe shit. These ladypreneurs are working their butts off, creating some incredible kinds of badass business magic and I highly recommend you check them all out.
Previously to starting Before Twenty-Five, I had always been one to keep my goals locked up tight, close to my heart.
I’m pretty sure it has something to do with fear. The what ifs. The inside voice that’s afraid of judgement and the possible repercussions of sharing. I know this is a big stopping point for many people when it comes to sharing their deepest desires (can I see a raise of hands). If this is you, know you’re not alone! It’s scary business!

If you’ve read my blog post Dear Twenty-Seventeen, you already know I had quite the year.
A year of growth.
A year of challenge.
A year of discovery.
To help get me pumped about this year and reflect on last year I wanted to share a break down of my biggest takeaways from 2017 as well as some of my biggies for 2018. Maybe it will inspire you to do the same. 😉
Dear Twenty-Seventeen,
Oh a year of growth you were.
So many people I knew had been treated terribly by Twenty-Sixteen but not me. Twenty-Sixteen treated me with so much love and respect. It was one of the best years I’ve had in my adult life so far. From starting my first blog (and falling in love with blogging) to dancing my face off to Matt and I booking our long dreamt of trip to Bali, it was an epic year.
